My top 5 must haves!

The following products/tools I can not go a day with out. I use them on my self, on my brides, and everywhere else I encounter hair.

#1 Its a 10 miracle leave-in product

Every girl should use a leave in conditioner. When you get out of the shower and comb out your hair, you should not be ripping through your knots, you should not be able to hear your hair braking when you comb. By spraying in a leave in it makes your hair less tangled and easier to comb out. It also will make your hair soft and shinny. It will rebuild dry, damaged, brittle hair. All of the It's a 10 products got there name because it is guaranteed to improve the health of your hair in 10 ways.
1. repairs dry damaged hair
2. adds shine
3. smooths and controls frizz
4. seals and protects hair color
5. flat iron spray and thermal protector
6. detangles
7. stops hair breakage
8. creates silkiness
9. enhances natural body
10. prevents split ends

A lot of people have tried leave in conditioners and think they don't like them. Usually because it leaves their hair feeling greasy. With this specific product if you hair feels greasy at all, its not the product, your simply using to much and or spraying to close to the root. You should only need 2 or 3 sprays per side depending on thickness of hair. Another way you can apply this is by spraying a few squirts into your palm and rub it through your ends and work your way up. Again you want to be sure to stay away from your roots.

#2 Hot tools ceramic curling irons
I personally love the Hot Tools brand ceramic irons. They are a more affordable professional iron. Although any heat used on your hair on a regular basis can be damaging to your hair, ceramic irons are less damaging then metal irons. Metal irons will suck up all the moisture in your hair, resulting in dry brittle hair. Even better, they're purple!
I really like that the hot tools iron has a variable temperature setting. Most irons that come at a fixed temperature are set at 400 degrees, which is high for majority of hair types. I recommend using 300-325 for fine hair and 350-375 for all other hair types.

#3 Kenra 25 Hairspray
I use this hairspray in any form of styling. Life wouldn't be complete with out it. It has an all day hold and will hold curls through anything including dancing and humidity. The Kenra formula contains an advanced non flaking resin, so you can spray your hair as much as you want. Also Kenra products are not tested on animals. I guarantee you will have beautiful, bouncy, shinny hair and will fall in love with this hairspray.

#4 Cricket SilKomb Pro50
This comb is the secret to big hair! The fine teeth are perfect for teasing hair. It is built very sturdy and the teeth never brake like other combs I have used. Compared to other combs on the market they are a little on the pricey side but well worth it. I believe the reason for this is they are more geared towards stylist. They have anti bacterial properties, are very sturdy, have a fine tooth pattern, and a metal tail that works perfectly for highlighting hair.

I will never purchase a different teasing comb in my life!

#5 Big Sexy Spray and play harder hairspray
Now if you purchase the pro50 teasing comb you must complete the teasing process with this hairspray. Its called big sexy hair for a reason! It has a very strong hold, so I tend to only use it for teasing. This hairspray also has an all day hold, adds shine, fights humidity, protects from UV rays, and is fast drying. Your are guaranteed to achieve big hair when you use this hair spray.

I strongly suggest purchasing the above products from a salon professional. Buying salon products off the shelves at a drug store are usually damaged, diluted, old, and a lot of times a whole different product.

I have been a licensed hair stylist for over 4 years. It is my life and I love what I do!
I do what I can to support finding a cure every year and this year it has unfortunately hit home. So I decided to use my talent to help raise anything I can. If moneys an issue every penny helps. Also I will be making clip in pieces for those who are unable to wear pink hair to work.
To put the highlight in, depending on your hair color, the processes is 2 very easy steps. 1. I will put a few foils in to pre lighten your hair. These can be placed where ever you would like, most people do a small chunk on either side of there head right above the ear. 2. after the lightener is rinsed out I will apply the pink temporary hair color on those same pieces and VA VOOM its done. Depending on how often you shampoo, the color will last approximately one month. To remove the color you simply cover over with your normal color, your hair dresser will have no problem doing so.

Again
ITS FUN,ITS TEMPORARY, AND ITS FOR A GOOD CAUSE!

Eat Pray Love and Lustrous Hair

Ive been really wanting to see Julia Roberts new film "Eat Pray Love". She did such a great job playing Erin Brockovich, I'm positive she will portray Elizabeth Gilbert very well. If you didn't know the film is directed by Ryan Murphy who also directed the very successful "Glee". The film is about a woman that has everything woman are supposed to have in life, yet shes not happy. She decides to embark on a journey around the world, on a quest for self discovery. She travels to Italy, India, and Bali. While traveling she discovers the true pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and finally the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali.

While doing my daily googling, which consisted of 2010 bridal trends and the film I cant wait to see "Eat Pray Love", I found an article written by Emily Hebert about the Secret holistic beauty tips from Italy, India, and Indonesia. One of which was titled "Score lustrous hair" and I decided to share!!

Pratima Raichur, creator of Pratima Skin Care, says that massaging the face, body, and hair with aromatic oils made from fruits, herbs, and spices can have a profound effect. “The word for oil in Sanskrit, sneha, means love,” says Raichur. “Anointing the body with oils on a daily, weekly, and seasonal basis is one of the most nourishing and best anti-aging therapies you can do for yourself.”
In particular, massaging the scalp with oil is the secret to getting an ultrashiny mane like model Lakshmi Menon. “My mother taught me to use organic coconut oil as a treatment,” the runway star once told ELLE. “It makes my hair feel luxurious.”
“Hair oil massage is one of the key beauty rituals in India,” says Purohit. “Most women will get a hot oil hair massage twice a week. If you want to do it yourself, wrap your hair with a hot towel after massaging, read a newspaper during breakfast, then take a shower to shampoo.”
Purohit says that massaging strands with oil stimulates the scalp and helps remove product buildup. And, unlike a spray that “just sits on top of the hair,” massaging roots with oil ensures that all the nutrients are absorbed. Popular hair oils in Southeast Asia include coconut, almond, sesame, and amla (Indian gooseberry).

I have always heard about the magic of olive oil, let me know if you try it out and how you liked the movie!

All about the stylist

Ever since I was a little one I have had a love for hair. Technically I have been a hair stylist for 20 years. Of course my only clients were Barbie’s and dolls for the first 4. When I was 5 I chose my baby sister to be my first genie pig. I didn’t do to bad, and she looked pretty cute with an extremely short bowl cut with lots of artistic texture. It was right after that when I started telling my family I wanted to be a ‘hair stylist in Hollywood’. When I got older I went through a short stage of wanting to be a photographer then it changed to a massage therapist. My true passion stayed near by and in my freshman year of high school my guidance counselor informed me that in my junior year of high school I could apply to go to cosmetology school. When the time came I was absolutely thrilled. To be accepted you had to have good grades and write a long paper of why you should be chosen. Although English was never my strongest subject, I wrote about my love for hair. On August 16th of 2006 I graduated top of my class at Maricopa Beauty College. My favorite part of being in the salon would have to be color, but I could never let go of cutting and shaping. To see the look on peoples face after you have given them a complete hair make over is one of the best feelings in the world.

After a few years of building a clientele, I opened my first studio salon. Such a great experience at 20 years old, I learned a lot about running a business. In February of 2009 I did hair for my very first photo shoot and was opened to a whole new world. A week later I was asked to participate in a Fascinations fashion show. I really enjoyed the thrill and challenge of being behind the curtains and having to complete 10 models hair in such a short time frame. For the next few months I built my portfolio doing various photo shoots with multiple photographers and make up artist and grew as a hair designer, spraying and sculpting hair into whatever sculpture I wanted. I was ready to accomplish anything that was thrown at me. Three years after graduation, August of 2009, I was introduced to the making of a film, my true love. Love at first site. I worked with Synthetic Human Productions on a short film that won awards from multiple film festivals. I then ended the year with my first six page magazine spread in Phoenix Woman magazine, my first cover on Your Health magazine, and a fashion show with three designers from Scottsdale fashion week. Fortunately it didn’t end there, I started 2010 with another cover of Your Health magazine and became a contract hair stylist for a bridal company. With them I have done tons of wedding party’s, I really enjoy making a bride feel beautiful,  and hair for Fox news and Sonoran Living. I also was able to do hair for a small clip of a movie produced by Temple Hill entertainment, which will be out in summer of 2011.

In my personal life I am madly in love and have been married to the man who completes me, for 3 amazing years. Turns out hes in the film industry and dreams of making his own films. So I just might be "a hair stylist in Hollywood" one day haha. Going to a movie has always been something I enjoy. When I go I guarantee you I can describe every characters hair when its over. My passion tends to really get in the way during a period piece film and I have a hard time paying attention to whats going on. There is something about how clean and historically accurate the hair styles are that inspires me.

I have many many years ahead of me and I hope to accomplish any thing that I want. Challenges are thrilling, why stop at what you know. Life is what you make it and I want mine to be an adventure.
